Kentucky Performing Arts
 CSA Promotion

The Kentucky Performing Arts is excited to share more information about local food sourcing and Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) through an informative Lunch and Learn Webinar. Watch the recording and review this program page to learn more about Kentucky Farm Share Coalition partner farms serving Louisville for the upcoming CSA season.

What is Community Supported Agriculture (CSA)?

A local produce subscription where members receive weekly deliveries of seasonal vegetables and some fruits for 20+ weeks during the main growing season (May - October).

A model of buying food that is focused on community where a participant pays in advance for a share and then becomes a important member of the farm for the whole season.

A weekly box or basket of fresh local vegetables. The items in a share are harvested at their peak ripeness and will often store longer and have more flavor than other produce.

What are the Benefits of CSA?

  • Easy access to healthy fresh food and the opportunity to try new foods.

  • Convenience--pick up your share at work or on the way home.

  • Know your farmer that grows your food. Receive regular newsletters with useful recipes.

  • Enjoy health benefits of increasing vegetable consumption throughout the season.

  • Keep more food dollars local.

  • 100% USDA certified organic produce. All coalition farms are certified organic.

Elmwood Stock Farm

Hickory Grove Farm started in 1786 in Pleasureville, KY. Through the centuries the farm has grown just about everything. Their family has always been motivated by a deep connection to the land and desire to raise foods using regenerative and organic practices so they can hand it off to the next generation better than they found it.

The farm is currently run by Ryan Burnette who raises certified organic mixed vegetables and pasture-raised meats and eggs. They offer both meat and produce CSAs to eaters around the bluegrass.
